Sparring gear is required for all students yellow belt and up. All ranks are allowed to participate in fight night but must have their own gear. This includes white belts.
The reason for this is for everyone’s safety. While we do not use full contact sparring, accidents happen. Occasionally students may swing harder than intended and having protective gear helps prevent injuries.
Correctly sizing and purchasing gear is the responsibility of the student, parent, or guardian. If you are unsure about something, reach out to SBN Maus before making a purchase.
PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE CHARTS!!!
The most common order issues come from incorrectly measuring for gear. For example, many people order shin pads too small because they measured where the pad should go instead of from the base of the knee to the top of the foot.
REQUIRED GEAR is head, hand, feet and a mouth guard or face guard. Shin pads are optional but recommended for kids.
We work with Century Martial Arts for our gear but they do sell products that are not a part of our style. Below are direct links for Tang Soo Do approved gear as well as sizing charts.
Do not purchase any other style from century without approval from SBN Maus as it is likely not allowed in Tang Soo Do.
Feel free to contact SBN Maus with any questions or concerns via email, phone, text, Facebook or in person.
